Biography
Jenny is an attorney and a doctoral student in Law at Birkbeck College, University of London, where she researches ideologies of property in legal discourse and practice and their entanglements with legal constructions of race, gender, and sexual violence.
Before coming to law, Jenny worked as a special education teacher in the Bronx, NY, and served as a union delegate for the United Federation of Teachers. In 2012 she founded the nonprofit community radio station XRAY.fm. She has clerked for several U.S. District Court judges and is an internationally performing musician and Kill Rock Stars recording artist. She is a science writer for the social/disability justice magazine Mad in America and has worked as an advocate and organizer for immigrants, incarcerated persons, and houseless and low-income tenants with organization such as OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, the Community Alliance of Tenants, Housing Land Advocates, and the Oregon Law Center.
Jenny is currently a researcher at the Bioethics and Human Rights Lab at UMass Boston, in partnership with the international Centre on Mental Health and Human Rights. She is an associate faculty member at the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research, where she teaches on topics in law and social theory.
