Upper-Level Writing Courses

The Galen Fund supports expanded upper-level writing courses.

Writing in Law Practice places students in real-world settings as they learn to write professional documents under the instruction of a distinguished practitioner.  The course has been taught both in Eugene and in Portland.

Writing Colloquium provides students with tools to effectively give and receive feedback on written documents.  The course is especially popular with students who are writing advanced papers and benefit from “workshopping” drafts in small-group settings.

Writing Colloquium in Water Law offers the same “workshop” opportunity to students taking the Water Law course and writing papers on related topics.  The newest Writing Colloquium focuses on issues of race, ethnicity, and inequality in the legal process.

Other courses in research, writing, and advocacy offered outside the Galen program include:

  • Advanced Legal Writing
  • Intensive Writing
  • Advocacy Competition
  • Oral Argument
  • Appellate Advocacy
