Jeffrey Beaver to Be Honored with Frohnmayer Award for Public Service

16th annual Frohnmayer Award for Public Service

Eugene, Ore. – The University of Oregon School of Law is pleased to announce Jeffrey Beaver, class of 1985, will be honored with the 2019 Frohnmayer Award for Public Service on April 12 in Portland, Ore. Beaver is a partner in the Seattle office of Miller Nash Graham & Dunn.

In nominating Beaver, his peers among alumni of Oregon Law have named him a leader in the legal community. He is an expert trial lawyer and focuses his practice on condemnation, financial institutions, and commercial litigation. Most recently, Beaver used his firm sabbatical to provide pro bono services and extensive legal expertise with the non-profit organization Lawyers Without Borders around the issues of human trafficking and wildlife crime in the United Republic of Tanzania. He has been actively involved in the American Bar Association’s efforts to provide advocacy training and assistance to Sudanese lawyers representing victims of the Darfur conflict before the International Criminal Court.

Beaver’s community service work is as extensive as his legal work. He serves on the board of Friends of the Children-Seattle and is passionate about breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Throughout his career he has shown dedication to recruiting, training and developing traditionally underrepresented attorneys for future leadership positions as a board member with the Washington Leadership Institute and the University of Oregon School of Law Dean’s Advisory Council. Beaver also serves on the United States Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel, the Washington State Bar Special Disciplinary Counsel and the Washington State Minority and Justice Commission.

His extraordinary efforts to advance justice locally and internationally have been recognized by the American Bar Foundation, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., Loren Miller Bar Association, Best Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Washington Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell.

The Frohnmayer Award for Public Service was established in 2002 by the Law School Alumni Association and is named in honor of the family of University of Oregon President Emeritus and Law Professor Dave Frohnmayer. This prestigious award honors a graduate, faculty member, or friends of Oregon Law whose public service brings honor to the school.

The 17TH Annual Frohnmayer Award for Public Service event will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Downtown Portland on Friday, April 12, 2019. Tickets may be purchased at http://uoalumni.com/FAPS2019. For sponsorship and event information, contact lawalum@uoregon.edu.
