Ravyn Goss named recipient of the 3L Pillar of the Community Award

Ravyn Goss is named a recipient of third-year Pillar of the Community Award. Each year, the Oregon Law community nominates and honors the outstanding contributions by students, staff, and administrators. The 2020 Pillar of the Community Award recipients include five students, one faculty member, one administor and one staff member. This students award recognizes ways in which  an individual makes a positive difference in the lives of others and the broader law school community.  

Goss is graduating this spring with a concentration in Green Business Law. She was a fellow with the Environmental and Natural Resources Sustainable Land Use Project and a law clerk with the Oregon Department of Justice in the Civil Recovery Division. She was also president, vice president and treasurer of the Black Law Students Association during her time at Oregon Law.  

In nominating Goss, faculty and fellow students said the following: 

“Ravyn is a model leader at the University of Oregon School of Law. She is a true advocate, she is intelligent, she is resourceful, and her contributions to the law school community are exemplary.” 

“Ravyn is passionate about what she believes in and not afraid to fight for it.” 

“She is true to herself and is always sure that she is a supportive mentor and friend her everyday actions show that she cares and that she will do good in this world.” 

“She has constantly impressed me with her ability and commitment to building an inclusive, caring community.” 

“I am in awe of her courage in the face of adversity.” 

Notably, Goss is also the recipient of the following awards, scholarships and grants: Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association Scholarship, Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation Armonica Grant, and Trial Practice Kirkpatrick Award.
