Several law alumni win Oregon’s primary nonpartisan elections

Public service plays an integral role in the Oregon law alumni experience. Last Tuesday, Oregon held its primary election and several alumni were on the ballot. Out of the fifty-nine judgeship positions up for re-election, nineteen were filled by alumni with two races advancing to the general election in November. Many district attorney positions were also on the ballot. Of the twenty-one listed, seven were filled by Oregon Law alumni.

Nonpartisan Judge Positions

Judge of the Supreme Court, Position 7
Martha Walters (JD ’77) – Incumbent. Won with 98.57% of the vote.

Judge of the Court Of Appeals, Position 11
Joel Devore (JD ‘82) – Incumbent. Won with 57.75% of the vote.

Judge of the Court Of Appeals, Position 1
Josephine H. Mooney (JD ‘88) – Incumbent. Won with 98.50% of the vote.

Judge of the Circuit Court, 18th District, Position 1
Beau V. Peterson (BS ’03, JD ‘06) – Incumbent. Won with 98.86% of the vote.

Sheryl M. Bachart (BA ’91, JD ‘97) – Incumbent. Won with 70.96% of the vote.

Rob Raschio (JD ’01) who received 46.91% of the vote, will face Jim Carpenter (32.61%).

Judge of the Circuit Court, 20th District, Position 5
Edward A. Kroll (JD ’07) who received 27.73% of the vote, will face Kelly D. Lemarr (46.02%).

Nonpartisan District Attorney Positions

District Attorney, Hood River County
Carrie Rasmussen (JD ’00) won with 58.93% of the vote.

District Attorney, Curry County
Joshua A. Spansail (BA ’04 JD ’14) won with 99.30% of the vote.

District Attorney, Jefferson County
Steven F. Leriche (JD ’90) won with 96.66% of the vote.

District Attorney, Wasco County
Matthew Ellis (JD ‘07) won with 72.56% of the vote.

District Attorney, Douglas County
Rick Wesenberg (BS ‘87 JD ’91) won with 98.02% of the vote.

District Attorney, Josephine County
Joshua J. Eastman (BS ’10 JD ’13) won with 98.65% of the vote.

District Attorney, Lane County
Patricia W. Perlow (BS ’85 JD ’89) won with 68.78% of the vote.
