The University of Oregon Division of Equity and Inclusion and the Office of the President invite you participate in the second lecture of this year's African-American Workshop and Lecture Series. The featured speaker is Adam Foss, whose lecture is entitled "Shields and Swords: Waging a Battle Against Bias in Public Systems." The lecture takes place on November 28, 2017 in the Redwood Auditorium (Erb Memorial Union Room 214) at the University of Oregon. The lecture begins at 12:15, with lunch served at noon.

Mr. Foss is the founder of Prosecutor Impact - a non-profit developing training and curriculum for prosecutors to reframe their role in the criminal justice system. He is also a former District Attorney, Juvenile Division, Suffolk County, Boston, Massachusetts; a 2017 Mandela Foundation Changemaker of the Year recipient; and was named one of the 100 most influential black Americans by the Root in 2016. His 2016 Ted Talk, "A Prosecutor's Vision for a Better Justice System," has nearly 2 million views.

Join your colleagues for a free CLE and lunch and to learn from those at the front line about immigration issues here in Lane County. Abigail Molina, Molina Law Group, and Katrina Kilgren, Kilgren Immigration Law Office, will provide information and answer your questions about LOCAL immigration needs and concerns, and Stephen Manning, from Immigrant Law Group, will present information on ICE (“Immigration and Customs Enforcement”). Following this one hour CLE luncheon, those who would like to know more about pro bono opportunities in immigration services are urged to stay and visit with representatives from Catholic Charities and VITALS (“Valley Immigration Training Advocacy & Legal Services).
