Biography

Sandra Zellmer is a Professor and Director of Natural Resources Clinics at the University of Montana School of Law, where she teaches natural resources, wildlife law, water law, torts, and related courses. Professor Zellmer has published dozens of law review articles as well as several casebooks, nutshells, and other books. She was awarded the Clyde O. Martz distinguished teaching award in 2023, and also received Fulbright Specialist status and a Fulbright project award with the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in 2022. She is an elected member of the American College of Environmental Lawyers and a trustee of the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. Before teaching, she was a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division. She also practiced law in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and clerked for the Honorable William W. Justice, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas.
