Third year law student, Jacob Landsberg, will represent the University of Oregon School of Law at Baylor Law’s The Closer 2021. The Closer is a premier, invitation-only transactional law competition open to schools who have distinguished themselves in transactional law training. The competition will take place on a virtual platform January 14 - 17, 2021.
The Closer competitors will receive details of the deal twenty-four hours prior to the first round of negotiations. In that twenty-four-hour-period, competitors must identify the legal issues and develop a negotiation strategy that furthers their client’s position. During last year’s competition, participants negotiated a fictional health care joint venture between two prominent healthcare systems. Participants are judged on their knowledge of legal and financial issues, their ability to offer creative solutions, and their professionalism – and all under time constraints.
LizabethAnn R. Eisen will serve as Jacob Landsberg’s coach. Eisen is a pro tem instructor at Oregon Law where she teaches the Start-up Business and Corporate Finance simulation courses. She was a partner of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York where her practice focused on domestic and international corporate finance transactions, acquisition financing, corporate governance, and reporting matters and liability management transactions. Eisen most recently coached a team of Oregon Law students who participated in the LawMeets® 2020 M&A Boot Camp this summer.
