Concentrations: Law and Public Policy and Public Interest Law

Students interested in public law and policy are engaged in issues that shape our lives. The Public Law and Policy Program offers two concentrations that guide students through a customizable course-load to prepare for careers in public interest law or law and public policy:

  • The concentration in Public Interest Law gives students the knowledge and skills to become successful public interest lawyers.
  • The concentration in Law and Public Policy prepares students for more policy-oriented careers.

To complete the requirements in either concentration, a student must take a variety of courses and complete an academic research paper of high professional quality that focuses on an issue relevant to public interest law or law and public policy. UO Law offers over 40 courses from which to choose while meeting the requirements of either of these concentrations. A full list of requirements is available to current students in MyLaw under "Forms" in the Registrar's tab.

Pro Bono Honors

Students who complete a concentration in either Public Interest Law or Law and Public Policy and a Pro Bono Certificate in accordance with the Pro Bono Program’s requirements will earn their Concentration with Pro Bono Honors.
