Summer 2022 Litigation Lab

Judge Kasubhai and law students

This summer, the Career Center will sponsor ten students to participate in its Summer 2022 Litigation Lab. The course includes a $2,000 stipend for participating law students and a free copy of the 10th edition of the Pretrial casebook.

The 10-week Litigation Lab will be facilitated by the Honorable Mustafa Kasubhai (JD ‘96), United States Magistrate Judge. Through a robust curriculum, students learn effective litigation skills to prepare them for practice. Skill building includes working with colleagues and clients, investigating and developing cases, drafting and responding to pleadings, initiating and responding to discovery, interviewing and deposing witnesses, conducting motion practice, and writing and arguing motions.

Enrollment is limited to ten students to maximize each student’s opportunity to learn. Students will be divided into plaintiff and defense firms and will litigate a hypothetical case over the duration of the program. In addition to developing robust litigation skills, the Litigation Lab provides students with the opportunity to develop a meaningful professional relationship with a federal judge.
